2008 Evaluation Schedule

Tykers (7-8):  Evaluations complete.  Parents will be contacted by their son’s coach shortly with practice times and days and other useful information.

Lightning (9-10): Evaluations complete.  Parents will be contacted by their son’s coach shortly with practice times and days and other useful information

Midget (11-12)
Boys that were e-mailed to attend the Wednesday session:
Meadowood Field #2 on Wednesday, March 5th @ 6:00 – 7:30 pm
Boys that were e-mailed to attend the Thursday session:

Carver (Middle Field) on Thursday, March 6th @ 5:30 – 7:30 pm

Junior (13-14): Carver (Middle Field) on Monday, Mar. 3rd @ 6:00 - 8:00 pm and Meadowood Field #2 on Wednesday, March 5th @ 7:30 – 9:30 pm.

Welcome to Towsontowne Boys Lacrosse, a long standing member of the Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association. We are a volunteer organization providing lacrosse instruction and competition for over 320 boys ages 5 to 14.  Our goal is to provide the boys with positive, experienced coaches who can develop their skills and ability along with a love for the game.The program contains the following age groups:


2008 Towsontowne Boys Lacrosse Age Group Classifications

Age Group

Clinic:                           5 or 6 years old as of August 31, 2007

Tyker:                          7 or 8 years old as of August 31, 2007*

Lightning:                      9 or 10 years old as of December 31, 2007*

Midget:                         11 or 12 years old as of December 31, 2007

Junior:                          13 or 14 years old as of December 31, 2007

*  Please note that due to a recent MYLA rule change, the age group eligibility has been altered to allow boys that turn 9-years-old after August 31, 2007 but before January 1, 2008 to play Tyker.  MYLA intends to roll this age group eligibility change through all age groups on a yearly basis.  This change only affects 10 players in the program and their placement within the MYLA eligibility rules will be handled on a case-by-case basis.


DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAMS
:
Clinic: An "in-house" league for older 5 and 6-year old boys. The boys play full contact lacrosse in a 6 on 6 format with no goalies on a small field. We place a special emphasis on learning the fundamentals and rules of lacrosse.  In prior years, practices and games were held every Saturday morning from 9am until 10:15am in April and May on the lower field at Carver (see Directions to Fields link).  We will endeavor to maintain this schedule and will update this webpage when field availability is confirmed.  Players must be 5 or 6 years old as of August 31, 2007.

Tykers (7-8): Consists of an "in-house" league and a MYLA travel program. In prior years, practices / "in-house" games were held on Monday and Wednesday from 5:15pm until 6:30pm at Carver (see Directions to Fields link). We will endeavor to maintain this schedule and will update this webpage when field availability is confirmed.  MYLA games ordinarily take place on Saturdays.  Players must be 7 or 8 years old as of August 31, 2007.

Lightning Age Group (9-10): Competes in MYLA league against other boys lacrosse programs.  The Lightning Age Group also offers a Sunday travel team option to the more experienced players. Please note that participating on the Sunday travel teams require player tryouts, additional practices and games, and an additional parental contribution to cover the required referee and registration fees.  In prior years, teams practiced on Mondays and Wednesdays at Carver from 6:30 until 8 pm and on Saturdays from 10 am until 12:00 noon until the MYLA games begin the first week of April.  We will endeavor to maintain this schedule and will update this webpage when field availability is confirmed.  MYLA games ordinarily take place on Saturdays at varying times throughout the MYLA league area.  Players must be 9 or 10 years old as of December 31, 2007. .

Midget Age Group (11-12): Competes in MYLA and will likely field 4 teams this year aligned pursuant to MYLA regulations (AA, B, C, etc.).  The Midget practice days, times and locations (either Carver or Meadowood) have varied over the last few years.  We will update this webpage when field availability is confirmed.  MYLA games ordinarily take place on Saturdays at varying times and fields throughout the MYLA league area.  Players must be 11 or 12 years old as of December 31, 2007.
